Cottonwood Canyon State Park
Oregon’s newest state park is this lovely spot on the Wild and Scenic John Day River in the high desert of eastern Oregon. It’s such a different landscape from our typical Pacific Northwest forest and yet it’s only a couple of hours away from Portland. We usually see California Bighorn Sheep on the hills, if you look closely you can spot some on the right side of the drawing. Haven’t seen any rattlesnakes yet but I know they’re around.
